Tane Mahuta is a god, he is the god the forest. Tane Mahuta is Papatuanuku and Ranginui’s son, he is the one who forced them apart, if he didn’t do that we would have no light. Now when it rains it’s ranginui’s tears falling onto papatuanuku and her wounds. Her blood is the red ochre clay of earth. Some people say that when it is foggy it is papatuanuku tears. It is a Kauri tree, it is the largest living kauri tree in the world. All the living creatures in forest is known as Tane Mahutas children. The trunk grith is 13.77m, the trunk height is 17.68m and The total height of the tree is 51.2m. The location where the tree takes place in is waipoua forest.
